It is one of the blessings of old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them.  ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

It's no wonder to me that shows like Laverne and Shirley and movies like Thelma and Louise win generation after generation of fans; their appeal draws upon our common desire for love, understanding, and loyalty. That being said, I don't think that's why they're so popular. Hallmark cards and bank commercials do the same thing. These shows and movies are different. They get under our skin and resonate deep into our collective consciousness. In recent years, the sitcom Friends had the same incredible effect on people; that's why it lasted ten seasons. So, what is it? What's the secret ingredient to become memorable in the hearts and minds of millions? Silliness. Silliness is what we really want, folks. Other qualities are too vague, too intangible. Think freedom for instance; what's that? Silliness, on the other hand, is not only simple and self-evident, it makes the tragedies of life light enough to bear. It makes you laugh until your belly aches, your jaw hurts, tears stream down your face, and you think you just might pee your pants.  In short, no one dies over silliness. The only catch is that it takes a best friend to achieve the highest levels of it, as demonstrated by the pictures below. From the day we met, Reagan and I have been lightening each other's loads, restoring the other to sanity, and teaching each other about unconditional love and compassion. Most importantly, we are very, very silly together.

We're gonna do it
Give us any chance we'll take it
Read us any rule, we'll break it
We're gonna make our dreams come true
Doin' it our way

There's nothing we won't try
Never heard the word "impossible"
This time there's no stoppin' us.
We're gonna do it

Nothing's gonna turn us back now
Straight ahead and on the track now
We're gonna make our dreams come true
Doin' it our way

And we'll do it our way, yes, our way
Make all our dreams come true
And we'll do it our way, yes, our way
Make all our dreams come true
For me and you!!!!

On your mark get set and go now
Got a dream and we just know now
We're gonna make that dream come true
