The Land Of The Lost! Canaima...

We are back from our trip to the Canaima jungle and Angel Falls, or as I now call it, The Land Of The Lost! Our Sprinter Life mission was a huge success.

Stevie and I have visited 27 countries on this planet, and we both unequivocally agree that Canaima is one of the most beautiful places on earth. At every turn we kept expecting to see a giant Tyrannosaurus Rex. It was an other-worldly experience.

Canaima feels prehistoric in a liberating way.  I declared in the moment that I was taking Stevie off into the jungle to live happily ever after. Of course, we would have been back as soon as our mosquito repellent ran out, but whatever. It sounded "native" at the time.

Our one day boat ride up the Churun River with our Camaracoto guides took us past dozens of other waterfalls on our way to Angel. The word FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC would be an understatement. (excuse my language)

The great thing about opting for the long boat tour to Angel Falls vs. the one hour fly-over is that you actually get to EXPERIENCE Canaima. You get to walk and touch and smell and feel her.

And there is plenty to see and experience before you ever even glimpse Angel Falls. By the time you get to Angel Falls you wonder if it will even amaze you after everything you've seen. But it does. It steals your breath away.

Stevie is working on an Angel Falls post and it should be ready soon. Until then, we hope you've enjoyed this first round of photos.

A quick update on our schedule - Our plan is to regroup here in Merida for a couple days and rest. We're totally beat. It's been an insane 10 days! Sometimes I'm amazed at what we squeeze in during such narrow windows of time...

Next we plan to cross the border back into Colombia and from there it will be a full sprint to get to Quito, Ecuador by August 3rd where we fly back to the USA for one month. We can't wait to see family and friends. It's been a long time, especially for Stevie.

We'd like to give a special thanks to Guillermo and Paula. They stayed in Merida an extra week and took care of Kiki while we were gone. Today we say goodbye. We've spent a month with these guys and we love them deeply. We've learned so much from you and we will never ever forget you! Nos vemos pronto loco.

Cada dia es mejor, cada dia estamos mejor!
